Wave Energy Scotland Landscaping Study
Cruz Atcheson worked alongside Arup to deliver this landscaping study on behalf of Wave Energy Scotland. We applied our expertise in wave energy converter concept design to deliver key project tasks including: the development of a load assessment methodology for a broad range of WECs, numerical modelling exercises to provide representative loads and consultation with active WEC developers to identify and map current design methods.
The load assessment methodology promotes the establishment of design load cases (DLCs) to represent all the significant loading scenarios anticipated during the lifetime of a WEC. The DLCs attempt to capture the most significant environmental effects and machine states that drive ultimate and fatigue loads on device components.
