We have first-hand experience of site data processing, including metocean and site constraints analysis, in wave, tidal and floating offshore wind projects. We have led flagship projects in the sector (see our work) that have resulted in the specification of full-scale, grid connected projects and national tests centres, and we have contributed to the definition of priority areas for project developments worldwide. We are able to combine such experience with a range of software tools to derive site specific energy yield estimates for utility scale projects. We can assist you in your project developments activities from the early feasibility stage through to planning application, and also provide onsite support during the commissioning and field testing stages.

Throughout multiple stages of project development, access to critical site data is key. Prior to site specific data being available, feasibility assessments typically rely on a range of long-term hindcasts and / or the use of specialist software (e.g. spectral wave modelling tools). This first step may also assist in the specification of site specific measurement campaigns that span across a range of variables (resource, bathymetry, geology, etc.). Once site data is available, its correct post-processing and interpretation is also crucial. To make informed decisions on the final siting for your project, the definition of the relevant layers of attributes, constraints and other relevant information is key. We have worked on a range of projects and created suitable methodologies to derive bespoke maps for our clients – which are both informative and a powerful aid for decision making. We have also worked at a range of scales, creating site-specific, regional and countrywide atlases – some of our projects in this field are described here. Over the years our engineers have gained a range of hand-on project experience, including tank testing, deploying measurement instruments and field testing of grid connected machines. Our site experience includes the planning of offshore trials, specification of the instrumentation and onsite support during the deployment phase, including the management of multiple subcontractors.
